KANYE X A.P.C.: Genius marketing or fashion’s final coffin nail?
Few celebrities are as controversial as Kanye West – self-appointed genius, self-styled style icon and partner of reality TV starlet Kim Kardashian.
After his disastrous and widely-ridiculed 2011 womenswear collection and various collaborations with Nike, Giuseppe Zanotti, Mr Bathing Ape and Louis Vuitton, his latest capsule collection for Jean Touitou’s ‘French preppy brand’ A.P.C. proves to be as dividing as his latest album.
According to several sources, A.P.C.‘s website and online-shop crashed during the initial release last weekend and most stores are already out of all styles. The collection consists of basic items like tapered denim, hoodies and t-shirts – among them the already infamous ‘Hip Hop T-shirt’ for 80,- € / 120,- $, a simple loose-cut standard tee.
