Berlin Fashion Week. As if she had measured him with rulers and dividers on graph paper: Sissi Goetze‘s man for winter 2012 looks just as precise. What excites her about menswear is the geometry of the male body, she says. “Female curves don’t interest me. The Central St. Martins graduate chose mottled gray, mauve and strict blacks to color her focused search for the perfect fit. She started at the shoulder: Beginning with sporty raglan sleeves, the kind seen on baseball shirts, she created a pointed round shoulder, bestowing an athletic dynamic on short sleeved woolen suit jackets and quilted coats. Inspired by “Rocky”, her choice of cloth broke with the classic outline of high waisted pleated pants, straight shirts and jackets: Heavy sweatshirt cottons took the rigor off the outfits, while elastic waist bands signaled functionality. Goetze describes her collections as studies. Her meticulousness has paid off.
