Vivienne Westwood Ausstellung am FIT in New York. Seit dem Jahr 1969 stellt das New Yorker Fashion Institute of Technology, kurz FIT, Ausstellungen zum Thema Mode zuammen. Momentan widmet es sich dem frühen Schaffen der britischen Modemacherin Vivienne Westwood. Genauer gesagt geht es um die Jahre 1980 bis 1989, also jenes Jahrzehnt, das die mittlerweile 70-jährige Britin die Modeszene mit ihrem Punk-inspirierten Ansatz und historisch inspirierten Drapage-Look, entscheidend prägte und an dessen Ende Vivienne Westwood zweimal in Folge zur besten britischen Modedesignerin gekürt wurde. Zu sehen sind Entwürfe der bekannten „Pirate Kollektion“ aus dem Jahr 1981, aber auch noch nie ausgestellte Stücke. Ergänzt wird die Show durch Videos und Fotos. Zu sehen bis zum 2. April und das bei freiem Eintritt!

Vivienne Westwood exhibition at FIT in New York. Since 1969 the New York Fashion Institute of Technology, short FIT, is one of the world’s few museums specialized in fashion. The current exhibition showcases garments, photos and magazine features by and about fashion designer Vivienne Westwood from 1980 to 1989. During that decade the designer Vivienne Westwood, best known for her her punk approach to fashion and historically inspired, draped clothes, had a major influence on fashion and as a result was elected twice British fashion designer of the year in 1990 and 1991. The exhibition features items of her famous “Pirate” collection from 1981 as well as never-exhibited pieces and items of FIT‘s archive. The show is ongoing until April 2nd and the admission is free!
