London Fashion Week: Burberry Prorsum S/S ’11

ENGLISH TEXT     Snake skin and leopard prints no, we are not talking about the Roberto Cavalli show, we are talking about the Burberry Spring/Summer 2011 collection. The show at London Fashion Week was a bit of a surprise and maybe a slight shock for all dedicated fans of the Brit-label. Creative Director Christopher Bailey created a collection which can be tagged with the words: sexy and skin tight. The whole look was based upon the label’s history and heritage, an old motorcycle jacket by founder Thomas Burberry, and thus Bailey focused on: motorcycle jackets. Even the classic trench was transformed into one. Leather pants and light dresses were shown along. The collection by the way was made to order via internet and will be delivered in seven weeks. This strategy probably is not only a contemporary attempt to please costumers but a good way to avoid seeing the copied looks at cheap retailers before the original Burberry collection hit streets…
