Review: Paris Haute Couture Fall ’10 – Valentino

Von Berlin nach Paris und vom Frühjahr/Sommer 2011 zurück zur Herbst/Winter-Kollektion – die Haute Couture Schauen in Paris haben begonnen. Und die sind anders getaktet als die Prêt-à-Porter-Mode. Diese Woche zeigt der kleine, elitäre Kreis an Haute-Couture-Häusern seine edlen Roben, und so auch Valentino. Das Modehaus von Valentino Garavani wird zur Zeit vom Duo Maria Grazia Chiuri und Pier Paolo Piccioli geführt und neu belebt. Die Kollektion der beiden beschreibt Tim Blanks auf style.com als „Haute Couture for the Twilight“, denn obgleich kurz und babydoll-like in Fragen der Silhouette und damit mädchenhaft wirkend, haftet der Kollektion eine Aura von düsterer Melancholie und Unerreichbarkeit an. Aber eines haben Chiuri und Piccioli in jedem Fall verstanden: das Valentino-Rot neu zu beleben.

From Berlin to Paris and from Spring/Summer 2011 back to Fall 2010 – it’s haute couture time in France’s capital. Among this august circle of fashion houses also is Italian label Valentino. Once founded by Valentino Garavani and meanwhile designed by duo Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli Valentino is one of Italy’s most acclaimed fashion houses – eagerly trying to renew itself. Chiuri and Piccioli seem to be a good choice to do so without negating the label’s roots. The current collection is like “Haute Couture for the Twilight” – at least that’s what Tim Blanks wrote on style.com. Dark and severe but young and girly at the same time is the look, and there’s the classic Valentino-red evening gown in sleek look, too… – looks like the it-girl’sperfect collection for the red carpet…
